Make Room: Small Space-Saving & Flat-Pack Furniture ‘Mat’

Rent to Own.ph: It is foldable, functional and can fit any small space. This furniture mat is amazing!

No matter how small you make them, most transforming furniture objects end up taking up at least some space in their smallest configuration. Not so with this floor mat – a singular design object that folds flat to the floor but is filled with all kinds of creative surprises.

Dubbed the ‘Land Peal’, this design idea from Shin Yamashita works just like an area rug or colorless carpet when not otherwise in use – but contains a hidden desk, secret chair and other cool stuff in its flat folds. It is intentionally nondescript – the only decorative touches being splashes of primary colors indicating functional purposes within an otherwise gray field.

Made for modern small-space living (be it a dorm apartment or condo interior), this furniture piece can be folded out in various ways to create a number of spatial configurations through functional lounging, seating and working surfaces.

Need a desk to do some work on? Fold up two panels and you have it. Want some space to lay back in? A few flips and you can create back rests that lean at various angles, which in turn becomes a leg rest for when you are fully lying down. For anything from homework to watching television, conversing to sleeping, this would make an awesome addition to any shared or private interior space – living room, bedroom or (of course) even a kids’ playroom.

Transforming Furniture Designs Perfect for Tiny Apartments

Rent to Own.ph: Transforming furniture seems to be the future for small apartments. And why not? When they combine beauty, functionality and a little quirkiness, these furniture are "must haves."

Living in a tiny space and not quite sure how to furnish it? With more and more people moving to urban centers, more designers are coming up with clever transforming and double duty furniture designs than ever! From a babushka-style 2-in-1 chair to stairs with hidden drawers built right in.

Sharing is caring, as the old adage goes, so the Schair Chair is the perfect way to show your guests you care by turning a single seat into two. The design, by Pratt student Charlotte Kreitmann, is made of reclaimed wood and is a fitting piece for popular urban dwellers who have more friends than chairs.

This wouldn't be a proper transforming furniture article if we didn't mention the Murphy bed, that old studio apartment mainstay. Resource Furniture has some really wonderful options whether you're looking for queen size beds, singles or even bunkbeds.

www.renttoown.ph

An elegantly obvious design that makes us want to smile, the Silla Guarda chair is actually 2 chairs in 1. When you need additional chairs, simply slip the wooden inner seat out of its white shell for double the fun.

Leveraging the versatility of modular design, these ingenious Tetran cubes are like LEGO for citydwellers. The cubes and attachments can be stacked in an endless number of combinations and discourage waste since they can simply be restacked when you grow bored of one configuration or if you move to another space.

While it may appear to be a run-of-the-mill coffee table at first glance, the Kai Table is actually a sexy piece of storage porn. With dozens of hidden compartments to stash anything your heart desires, it's an urbanite's dream table.

The Paket by Offi is a smart design for New Yorkers with children - especially those who tend to move around a lot. The colorful set of table and chairs quickly and compactly folds into a storage cube within a matter of moments.

When we first came across these staircase drawers, we couldn't believe what an elegant solution they were. Converting your own stairs to drawers may be a bit of a project but we're sure it will help with resale value (who could resist storage as cool as this?).

Many New Yorkers simply don't have the room for a full-size dining table, but having a dinner party with half your guests at a table and the rest on the couch is hardly ideal either. Brooklyn-based Ecosystems' Bada table provides the best of both worlds by morphing from a loveseat into a table depending on your needs.

Tiny Studio Apartment With Ingenious Interior Design Solutions

from: http://www.homedit.com/

Rent to own.ph: This studio is another example of "thinking beyond the box'' when it comes to design.

It seems logical that a small apartment can’t become larger unless it is actually redesigned and extended. However, interior designers like to fool the eye by finding all sorts of ingenious solutions. A nice example is this small apartment from Chelsea, New York. It measures only 650 square feet but it actually seems larger because of the interior design.

www.renttoown.ph

The apartment was designed by Robert Garneau of Studio Garneau. He turned into place into an airy and spacious area for its owners. The clients are a couple who run their office from home so besides needing a nice and cozy place to live they also needed an office space for work. The designer used many built-in features to open up the rooms. For example, a sliding wall in the bedroom hides a built-in storage and a series of bookshelves. It only covers them but because it’s white and continuous it gives the impression of a larger space.

Every little inch of space was exploited to its maximum. Even the space under the couch was used to include storage drawers. The kitchen features a multifunctional piece with three adjustable heights that can be sued as a kitchen island, dining table and work surface. A sliding door hides a small bedroom area with a pull-down bed and built-in niches that serve as nightstands. When not used, the bed goes up and the room becomes a part of the living area. The whole apartment is full of clever solutions.
